What do we do?

Cumulative years of experience and specialisation in ophthalmology must be passed to the next generation in order to enable steady progress at an advanced level. One prerequisite for this is that knowledge gathered over many years is shared. This was the motivation behind establishing the Dr Silvia Bopp Foundation.

We have set ourselves the objective of supporting the basic and continuing education of tomorrow's ophthalmologists and encouraging them to specialise. This applies particularly to regions in which access to highly qualified ophthalmology is still limited. Our current region of focus is East Africa.

Our aid efforts include the admission of scholarship students for specialist training, teaching at suitable clinical facilities in the region of support, operational coaching and knowledge transfer through academic conferences.
